Powering the Panavia Tornado multi-role combat aircraft.
The RB199s compact design give high thrust-to-weight and thrust-to-volume ratios while maintaining good handling characteristics and low fuel consumption.
The RB199 powers all variants of the Tornado multi-role combat aircraft and was used in a development role for today’s Eurofighter Typhoon.
With more than 7 million flight hours accumulated, the RB199 currently powers Tornados operated by the German, Italian and Saudi Arabian air forces. The RAF's Tornado fleet was recently retired after completing 40 years of service.
The versatile RB199 meets a wide range of operational requirements. Its compact design gives high thrust-to-weight and thrust-to-volume ratios while maintaining good handling characteristics and low fuel consumption.
