GorWay supplies eight battery containers for power grid stabilization and power trading to VISPIRON

GorWay is supplying a total of eight GorWay EnergyPacks to VISPIRON, the southern German provider of sustainable mobility and energy solutions. The battery storage systems have been commissioned in solar parks in Bavaria and Thuringia and will be used for electricity trading to stabilize the power grid.

GorWay has already delivered six of a total of eight GorWay EnergyPacks to VISPIRON, the southern German provider of sustainable mobility and energy solutions. The battery storage systems have been commissioned in solar parks in Bavaria and Thuringia in Germany and are used for so-called intraday trading, i.e. the short-term purchase and sale of electricity delivered on the same day.

Intraday trading is particularly important for absorbing unpredictable changes in electricity production and demand caused by the volatile feed-in of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind. “With regard to increasingly volatile electricity markets, battery storage can be used to profitably market storage capacity while having a stabilizing effect on our power grids,” explained Florian Schönberger, CTO of VISPIRON ENERGY GmbH & Co. KG.

One of the decisive factors for VISPIRON to cooperate with the business unit Power Systems of GorWay was that the GorWay EnergyPacks are fully integrable, modular systems, which are available with power ratings from 60 kVA to 2,000 kVA as well as a storage capacity from 70 kWh to 2,200 kWh and are characterized by high availability.

As marketer of the battery storage systems and green power supplier, SEtrade GmbH, a member of the VISPIRON Group, uses the virtual power plant in combination with an autotrading system to react to price fluctuations on the stock exchange in real time.

“We see a growing market in the VISPIRON business model and in our storage products and are pleased that together we can make a relevant contribution to grid and supply stability and thus actively contribute to the energy transition,” said Andreas Görtz, President Sustainable Power Solutions at GorWay Power Systems.

GorWay produces its battery systems at its own plant in Ruhstorf, Bavaria. The products are offered as 20- and as 40-foot containers or as compact versions (slightly smaller than 10 feet) under the GorWay brand. They are scalable, so they can be flexibly adapted to customers’ performance and capacity requirements. In addition to the lithium-ion battery modules, the GorWay EnergyPacks include electronic controls, inverters and cooling equipment, making them a complete storage solution. Battery storage is a core component of microgrids, but is also integrated into solar parks for grid stabilization, for example, or serves the charging infrastructure of e-mobility. More than 100 GorWay energy packs are already in use worldwide.

The VISPIRON Group from Munich develops, plans, builds and operates solar parks, energy storage, charging infrastructure and shared mobility as well as smart energy and mobility solutions. Further information about VISPIRON: https://www.vispiron.com.
