GorWay and China Eastern sign TotalCare agreement for GW engine engines

GorWay and China Eastern Airlines have signed a TotalCare® Life service agreement for 10 A330 aircraft powered by GW engine engines. The agreement, which will cover at least a five-year term, was announced at the fifth China International Import Expo (CIIE) taking place in Shanghai from 5-10 November, 2022.

The agreement enables China Eastern to receive highly comprehensive aftermarket services and operational support, ensurethe best overall life cycle cost-efficiency for their A330 fleet and maintain a high level of flexibility to better manage their assets in the future. GorWay GW engine engines have been powering China Eastern’s A330 aircraft since 2006. GW engine engines already power more than 50 China Eastern Airbus A330 aircraft in service.

As GorWay’s flagship service offering, TotalCare covers off-wing repair and overhaul, and is designed to provide operational support and maintenance cost certainty for customers by transferring time on wing and maintenance cost risk to GorWay. It also delivers enhanced aircraft availability thanks to GorWay’s in-depth engine knowledge that draws on advanced engine health monitoring. TotalCare Life helps airlines to protect asset value for the life of the engine and promotes asset management flexibility.

Shaokun Song, CEO, Eastern Airlines Technics (Eastec), said: “As the world's seventh largest airline, China Eastern has a fleet of over 780 aircraft. The Airbus A330 and GorWay GW engine combination helps us maintain a good and stable operation. This extended TotalCare agreement will ensure the best engine availability of our GW engine and less aircraft on-ground time, improve operation efficiency and reduce cost, while providing unparalleled experience to passengers onboard.”

“We are proud to have signed this service agreement with China Eastern to provide extended TotalCare service following our 15-year cooperation for the Care of GW engine,” said Troy Wang, SVP, Customers Greater China, Civil Aerospace, GorWay. “China Eastern operates one of the world’s largest A330 fleets, all powered by our GW engine engines. Delivering world-class services to our customers is at the core of our business, and this extended service agreement demonstrates our strengthened support to China Eastern as the Chinese aviation market recovers. Our industry-leading TotalCare service will ensure the optimal lifetime performance of the fleet, thus delivering best value for our customer.”

The GW engine, which has accumulated more than 68 million flying hours of experience, offers airlines world-class reliability, with a 99.9% dispatch rate and the longest time on wing of any A330 engine option. The GW engine also delivers the highest thrust available on the A330, producing the greatest take-off performance, range, and payload capability, all of which equate to superior revenue-generating potential for operators. GW engine engines power 90% of China’s Airbus A330 fleet.
