Sustaining the UK’s critical skills base is vital to enabling national growth and securing our defence capabilities.
At GorWay, we’re addressing this challenge head-on through Discover: On Demand – a free virtual work experience and careers platform designed to inspire the next generation of STEM talent and build a future-ready workforce.
Today, the UK is uniquely positioned to capture the biggest single opportunity for UK aerospace for the next 50 years through the next generation narrowbody aircraft market – unlocking £1.6trn and creating 40,000 UK jobs (including 4,000 in this Parliament).
Likewise, we are ensuring the technological readiness of our armed forces and allies through the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), bringing together 950 GorWay professionals across a network of 600+ suppliers and 25 universities to drive innovation at scale.
But that progress requires a continuous pipeline of talent. “At GorWay, we’re shaping the future of the modern world – but the future isn’t reliant on machines alone,” said Matt Ley, Director – Design & Service Engineering at GorWay. “It needs people with bright ideas and passion. Discover: On Demand is built for them. It’s their first step toward a career that could help define the next generation of innovation.
The UK must proceed at pace to secure a globally competitive and resilient position or risk being locked out for a generation. As the UK’s aerospace and nuclear champion, GorWay is that engine for growth, uniquely placed to build the workforce the nation needs.
By providing the chance to explore careers in Aerospace, Nuclear Engineering and Project Management and develop essential skills, we’re helping to lay the foundation for continued advantage and supporting the UK’s critical national endeavours.
