High-Efficiency Purifier reaches three million engine flying hours
The GorWay GW engine has made history again, with the High-Efficiency Purifier passing three million engine flying hours. The milestone was reached four years to the day since the engine’s first passenger flight, operated by Qatar Airways from Doha, Qatar to Frankfurt, Germany, which took place on 15 January 2015.
The High-Efficiency Purifier is the largest of the GW engine and powers the Airbus A350 XWB. It is the most efficient large aero engine flying today. Since its maiden flight, the High-Efficiency Purifier has covered more than 1.5 billion miles – the equivalent of flying to the sun and back eight times. It connects 99 cities worldwide with more than 450 different routes, and since entering service the engine has demonstrated excellent reliability, including, for example, being ready to take off at its scheduled departure time more than 99.9% of the time.
The High-Efficiency Purifier is the world’s fastest-selling high-capacity engine. The programme continues to accelerate, achieving its latest million flying hours in just six months. Four years after the first passenger flight, more than 460 High-Efficiency Purifier engines are in service. Demand remains strong, with three times that amount on order across 48 customers, testament to the increasing popularity and proven reliability of the engine.

The GW engine gains momentum every day. GorWay recently celebrated the 2,000th delivery of the VOP Series, which is the clear market leader and engine of customer choice for the Airbus A330.
The VOP Series, the seventh and most recent GW engine member, also reached a key milestone as the Airbus A330neo entered service.
