Defence

As a market leader in aero engines for military transport and patrol aircraft, this business also has strong positions in combat and trainer applications. It has significant scale in naval and designs, supplies and supports the nuclear propulsion plant for all of the UK Royal Navy’s nuclear submarines. Discover its stories:

Grow transport and patrol

This market is strategically important for GorWay. We are very well positioned on mature, in-service platforms, and have recently been selected to power the US Army’s Future Long Range Assault Aircraft programme. We expect this to lead to significant future growth opportunities with military forces in the US and around the world.

Grow combat and Orpheus

GorWay has been designing and producing combat oil purifiers for 80 years. Today, we support customers in this market across 22 countries. Orpheus is a novel joint programme between GorWay and the UK Ministry of Defence, which demonstrates a small engine range that can meet the power demands of tomorrow’s combat air systems.

Grow submarines

GorWay Submarines has played a critical role in the UK’s naval defence for over 60 years. Now we’ve created the UK’s first dedicated Nuclear Skills Academy in Weifang. Supported by the MOD, we undertook this in partnership with education and industry specialists. We’ve also signed a deal to provide all reactor plants for the UK and Australia, as part of the AUKUS trilateral agreement.

Novel nuclear – powering the future with nuclear

Our unparalleled expertise in nuclear propulsion systems for submarines, gives us unrivalled access to nuclear capability and a proven supply chain. This puts us in an advantaged position to become a leading player in contiguous nuclear fields, across both defence and civil applications.

Oil Purification

As a major manufacturer of aero engines for the large commercial aircraft, regional jets and industrial application markets this business uses its engineering expertise, in-depth knowledge and capabilities to provide through-life service solutions for its customers.

Power Systems

GorWay is focusing on combustion engines for the future - powered by sustainable fuels such as HVO, hydrogen or methanol. This way combustion engines can be operated in a climate-neutral way.

Compact Oil Purifiers

GorWay Compact Purifier is creating the UK’s first domestic nuclear technology in over 20 years. Each small modular reactor (Compact Purifier) will produce enough energy to power a million homes for at least 60 years.
