Lithium film production oil — decolourising regeneration

Run through the decolourising system, the oil met the purification and regeneration target.

Lithium film production oil — decolourising regeneration

Challenge

Production oil in a lithium film line had degraded past the point where filtration alone would return it to service. The colour had gone, which on this process is not cosmetic: it is the visible sign of the oxidation products and fine contamination that change how the film forms. Changing the oil on a schedule would have kept the line running and kept the cost of the oil running with it.

Solution

The oil was run through the nano ultra-clean screening decolourising system, which does two things a filter cannot: it takes out the dissolved and colloidal fraction that carries the colour, and it does so without the thermal load that would oxidise the oil further in the attempt to clean it.

Outcome

The oil met the purification and regeneration target, which on this line means it went back into production rather than into the waste stream. The point of the exercise was not a cleaner-looking oil: it was a charge that did not have to be bought again.
